Get Recruited On Campus
Connect with the thousands of local, national, and even international employers who are recruiting Texas State Bobcats through on-campus recruiting events and one-on-one opportunities!
Using Handshake, employers post interview schedules, job descriptions, application requirements, and hiring timelines. Employers can also search public profiles to invite students to their on-campus recruiting events. Don't miss out! Complete your Handshake profile today!
To see which employers are recruiting each semester, log in to Handshake using your NetID and university password, and navigate through the [Jobs] and [Events] tabs.
*Note: Please read our no-show and cancellation policy at the bottom of this page before participating in on-campus recruiting!
Attend a Career Fair
Career fairs are an excellent way to meet employers hiring for full-time, part-time and internship positions. To see a full list of the career fairs coming up this semester, check out the Events & Fairs Schedule. Keep an eye out for smaller events like Bobcat Career Chats, employer tabling events, and networking nights, too! Lists of attending employers can be found on Handshake.
Under the [Jobs] tab in Handshake, you can search [On-Campus Interviews]. These are employers who will be conducting interviews in our office – apply to their position to be considered for an interview spot! To narrow your search, try using different criteria such as industry, employer, job, or keywords. Make sure to check back frequently as employers set up schedules throughout the semester.
About On-Campus Interviews
If the employer selects you for an interview, you will need to log back into Handshake to sign up for an interview timeslot. Timeslots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to double check the application instructions within the job posting; some companies require that you also create a profile or apply on their website.
There are different types of interview schedules, including:
- Open - If you meet the minimum qualifications, directly sign up for an interview.
- Preselect - If you meet the minimum qualifications, submit your resume and wait for the employer to pre-screen all applicants. You will be notified by email whether you have been selected for an interview according to the timeline posted in the schedule.
- Preselect Continuous - If you meet the minimum qualifications, submit your resume and get notified at any time whether you have been selected for an interview.
- Rooms Only - Employers will schedule you at a career fair or reach out to you directly to interview.
*NOTE: To apply for an interview schedule that is either Preselect or Preselect Continuous, you will need to follow the application instructions in the job posting, submitting all required documents according to the timeline specified in the schedule.
*BONUS: If you participate in two or more interviews through on-campus recruiting, you can meet with a career counselor to review the feedback left by employers about your interview. Schedule an appointment by calling 512-245-2645.
No-Show & Cancellation Policy
Students may schedule, reschedule or decline interview appointments up to 48 hours prior to their interview by logging in to Handshake, or by calling Career Services and speaking to the Employer Relations Coordinator (ERC).
Cancellations within 48 hours of the interview MUST be made by calling the ERC at 512-245-2645. The reason for your cancellation will be documented and you will be required to send an apology letter to the employer and copy the ERC on the email (email@example.com). Your Handshake privileges will be suspended until the apology letter is sent. If you “no-show” to an interview, your Career Services privileges (including Handshake) will be suspended until you have met with someone in Career Services to discuss.
