Informational Interviewing (PACE)
An informational interview is a conversation with an individual who can give you information about an organization, a job field, an industry, or particular job. It’s also a great way for you to reality test a career path and start networking with people in your field of interest.
Informational interviews can help you:
- Determine if a career field is right for you
- Discover new possibilities in your field
- Gain insight into the realities of employment
- Allow you to expand your professional network
Since you will be meeting with a professional, you’ll need to be prepared for the interview. Check out our Preparing to Conduct an Informational Interview handout in the Career Services Online Publications & Resource Center for some tips and tricks for a successful meeting!
