Part-Time Job Fair: Bobcats C.A.R.E.

As a component of the Bobcat Preview program, a student involvement fair will be hosted at the Student Recreation Center.  The fair will feature four different pathways to thriving at Texas State:

Connections with Campus Ministries

Activities in Student Organizations

Resources by Student Support Services

Employment via Career Services

Career Services welcomes employers hiring part-time positions beginning in August 2015.  On- and off-campus employers are encouraged to register early for this space-limited event.  Campus employers with work-study and regular-wage positions are strongly encouraged to participate.

Over 5,000 students are expected to attend this event.  Fall 2014 Attendance: 930 students.

USDA/NIFA Grants and Employment Workshop (3 days)

The United States Department of Agriculture and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, in cooperation with the College of Applied Arts, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and the Office of the Provost at Texas State University, are proud to sponsor a free three-day grant workshop and career event for students, job candidates, faculty, and administrators seeking to do the following:

* Learn about grant opportunities available through the USDA and NIFA;
* Develop successful grants and proposals;
* Identify potential partnerships and collaborate with other Hispanic-serving and land-grant institutions;
* Engage with other institutions of higher learning to consider the challenges facing the agricultural sciences in the region and nation;
* Connect students with internship and employment opportunities.
On day three, the USDA On-the-Spot Hiring Event, students and recent graduates in agricultural science, nutrition, and related fields will explore the career fair, meet with prospective employers, and set up interviews to be held later that morning in the Texas State University Career Services office.

The invitation to this free grants and employment workshop is extended to faculty, students, career centers, and universities throughout the entire Southwest region. Prospective attendees may register for the welcome reception and one or both days of the workshop. Grant workshop participants may choose to attend the sessions online or in person.

Bobcat Career Prep

Are you comfortable navigating a job fair or communicating your strengths? Bobcat Career Prep provides you with the opportunity to practice your elevator speech during one-on-one interviews with employers from leading organizations.  This event also helps in the development of etiquette and relationship building skills within a job fair setting.  Other activities include resume critiques, social media guidelines, professional dress, interview tips, and more.  Join us for this fun and casual event to help boost your chances in landing your next job or internship!

There are two session options, 6 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m.  Participants will be placed in a drawling and one person from each session will win a suit!
